Grow Learn Share

Our Grow Learn Share program is a nonprofit project through Empowerment Works.

To empower future generations to grow, eat, and share their abundance of organic food.

Our “Grow, Learn, Share” program offers hands-on food farming education and shares the abundance of food with the food insecure.

Heartland Collective is a Regenerative Learning Center. Regenerative design uses whole systems thinking to create resilient and equitable systems that integrate the needs of society with the integrity of nature. The goal of regenerative design is to develop restorative systems that are dynamic and emergent, and are beneficial for humans and other species. This regeneration process is participatory, iterative and individual to the community and environment it is applied to. This process intends to revitalize communities, human and natural resources, and society as a whole.

“Grow, learn, Share” Program Objectives:

  • Grow: Offer live-in educational programs to teach permaculture farming
  • Learn: Offer workshops and events around sustainable farming and regenerative living
  • Share: Support Food Bank of Nevada County, senior citizens, immobile residents {some of Heartlands food gets delivered directly to residencies), local income groups by providing many tons of food per year
  • Share: The experience of close to earth lifestyle with off grid, renewable energy, self- grown food, composting toilets, solar pumped well water, community resource sharing, collective intelligence

We are currently in our 2020/2021 Funding Cycle. If you are philanthropic and/or have ties to a foundation that me be interested in supporting our work please Contact Us.

We are currently open to visitors that would like to support our "Grow, Learn, Share" program and learn how to live off-grid and create a fully Regenerative Lifestyle. We are currently deep in the “Build” phase, so in addition to all garden and growing related projects we are building all sorts of things, co-creating all kinds of elements, and a lot of beautification and site design. So if this phase interests you, we’d love to explore having you with us. We are also looking to capture all the magic we are co-creating, so we are additionally open to receive media support through the work-trade program.

We are also a VERY popular volunteer program. It's very important you fill out the form below, and we will do our best to get back with you ASAP...however, due to high demand and a lot of applications we can't promise to be in touch right away. Sometimes we have general needs, and sometimes we have specific needs. sometimes we don't have an admin department and our needs are met. As we identify what we require we will reach out to individuals that fit these needs.

NOTE: For all new people that have had exposure to large groups or international travel we have a COVID-19 5 Day Self-Quarantine process. Please read this for more information.

What we are doing is unique on MANY levels, and our Work-Trade program is very special. Personal growth and human potential are themes we explore daily here, and our Level 1 Work-Trade program begins to scratch the surface of what we are all about.

Our Level 1 Work-Trade program is one month long, and it entails 5 hours per day 5 days a week. During this time we will feed you 3 meals per day 7 days a week. We relax and take weekends off.

While deeply involved in all aspects of Heartland, you will also journey through Miguel Ruiz’s “4 Agreements” book. We have found this to be the best foundation for long term relationship building. After your first month, you will have invested 100 hours and that is when you will be crowned an official Heartlander.

CoLab Campout

CoLab Campout is hosted and created by Heartland Collective and it is a curated experience designed to evoke hope for our future. The first event was in 2017, and it was repeated 2018, and 2019.

The 2020 event was postponed due to COVID-19. CoLab Campout is an intimate gathering designed to keep our participants on a journey of growth together.

The 4 pillars of CoLab Campout are OuterWork, InnerWork, Transformation, and Celebration.

The main goals are to get back to our roots of village building, to collaboratively build real structures and to explore ourselves and each other as we work together so that we can show up more as the beings we truly are.

The result we are shooting for is a feeling of actual Transformation. It is our transformation that we LOVE to celebrate.
